I was able to quickly try quite a few different styles (along with many quick changes to additional parameters), but ended up with solo style to bypass the autochord voicing (this particular MIDI track had already been heavily tweaked to optimise such playback style, due to disappointing results on autochord voicings with CHG). Wow, RealGuitar is incredible! A very intuitive interface with excellent real-time feedback on chord voicings. I'm a bit mystified why the 12-string acoustic (and electric for that matter as well) has been so overlooked, as it's such an important ingredient in pop music, folk-rock, and certain genres of indie rock (as well as even some New Wave from the 80's). This may have been discussed in the Fab Four topic, but there are 95 pages to that topic now, so it would be like looking for a needle in a haystack (the search feature does indicate that topic, but AFAIK it isn't possible to get the search feature to tell you exactly which pages the search hits occur on). Maybe a Fab Four owner can suggest a patch to try for 12-string strumming (good round robin implementation auto-chord not required, but alternating pick direction is essential). Oh, it occurs to be that Fab Four probably has at least one 12-string guitar, but I don't know which patches to try, and can't afford the time it would take to crash Digital Perfomer up to thirty times in a row while trying them all (I can't run the Play products in standalone mode at all at the moment, which is rather bizarre as one would think they are less resource-hungry). Of course some of that could be the fault of the demos, so feedback from actual owners is welcome. Probably Vir2's Acoustic Legends HD library should be considered as it covers just about every type of acoustic guitar there is, but the demos did not impress me due to lack of connectivity between notes (unrealistic phrasing) and especially the timbre. But also because I needed mandolin, banjo, and jazz guitar (though I now prefer the banjo in Goliath as having more realistic timbre, and have an excellent standalone mandolin library from precisionsound). I had passed on MusicLab's RealGuitar in favour of CHG last year due to the latter's writeups saying the chord voicing is even more advanced than RealGuitar, but in practice I have had to voice the chords myself (no big deal). Unfortunately, as with other AAS products, I feel there is still more research needed before the product produces realistic timbre. I did try the demo of Strumm Acoustic from Applied Acoustics Systems tonight, and the strumming seems quite natural (unlike Chris Hein Guitars or Quantum Leap Goliath - though bumping either of those up an octave at least gets me close to the desired timbre especially Goliath's Washburn acoustic guitar). There are other aspects of how RealGuitar operates that might lend to more realism for 12-string even more than for 6-string, but the demo version of the program (which I am just about to try, once I reboot) is 6-string only. layering two 6-string samples one octave apart. My guess is that MusicLab's RealGuitar is the best option, as according to some magazine reviews, it is the only one that actually samples a 12-string guitar vs. It is easy to find half-decent 6-string acoustic guitars in sample libraries, but for some reason 12-strings are quite elusive. While revisiting an older project tonight, I was reminded that I never found a 12-string guitar source to replace my old workstation standby from the Yamaha Motif. I now regret your presence in Southern California, and wish you could have stayed in Northern California and the East coast, where you could continue to pander to elitist academics without taking the necessary steps for real change to our ill-fated, auto-loving culture. In a city that exemplifies the negative conse quences of car ownership, such as Los Angeles, it is inconceivable to me why Zipcar would overtake a community-serving company, such as Flexcar, only to dissolve the advances it has made in the Los Angeles area over the past five years. Your recent decision to reduce the fleet of cars in Southern California is incredibly disappointing. I have written to Zipcar the following comment: This is incredibly disheartening news, especially since former Flexcar members were lead to believe that the same (and even better) service would continue under the new provider. In Southern California, we have decided to remove our vehicles from areas outside of the universities we serve (cars will remain at UCLA, USC, Pomona, UCSB, UCSD and UCI). We are constantly learning more about the best way to operate our service, and sometimes what we learn results in a tough decision. However, unfortunately, I received the following email this morning:Ĭar sharing is an evolving category of transportation, and we are working hard to pioneer the industry. I followed suit, joining Zipcar two weeks ago, and waiting for the folks at Zipcar to transition the old Flexcars to new Zipcars. Flexcar members were made aware of the aquisition at the end of last year, and were welcomed by Zipcar to seemlessly switch their Flexcar plan to a comparable Zipcar plan. Recently, Zipcar, a car-sharing program based out of Boston, has bought out Flexcar, and has brought their brand and ownership policies to Southern California. Everything was great, and I had felt that I had adequately proven that one can lead a normal life in LA without owning an automobile. Flexcar had many cars throughout the greater Los Angeles area, including several in my area of town. The shared cars were extremely helpful for personal errands that demanded greater flexiblity or larger loads to be hauled (doctor's appointments, trips to the hardware store, etc.). Last year, I joined Flexcar, a car-sharing program based out of Portland. I realize that it is impractical for everyone to live as I do - cycling and bussing to get where I need to go, living in a location where everything I need is within a close distance - but feel very passionately that a strongly auto-reliant culture carries with it many negative and unhealthy consequences. I have been a resident in West LA for the past two years, and have been living and working here without an automobile for the last year and a half. Other than these two components, there’s not much in Mortal Shell that I can confidently say is soulslike. It definitely has the trademark difficult combat, but only when attempting a No Shell run. So, always figure out your margin first, before you do your markup. Then you take your profit, you divide into your total revenue, and that will give you a percentage. So, how you calculate your margin is you take your total revenue, minus total expenses, and that will equal your profit. Even down to the pens that you use and the paper that you use. Or if you have employees that you need to pay, that’s included. So, if you have office space, that is accounted in it. What you really need to be focusing on before you markup your widgets is your margin, okay? Now, the margin has all the expenses that takes to run your full business. Now, the markup is just one piece of a financial system that you want to master. That would mean that your markup is 100 percent. And then you mark it up to sell it at retail price at two dollars. And each widget you buy wholesale is one dollar. Let’s for today, hypothetically say you are in the widget business. So, let’s start with what a markup is? Most businesses know what that is.
